Clothing is not a preferred choice for humanitarian contributions in Iraq.  Please consider placing donated clothing items with local organizations.  See the guidelines to donations.

The Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) IS NOT involved with United States Agency for International Development contracting or sub-contracting agreements for Iraq.  Individuals and businesses seeking subcontracting or consulting opportunities with corporations/agencies that were recently awarded USAID contracts, should contact those contractors directly.  A list of the most recent USAID awards for contracts in Iraq can be found at:  www.usaid.gov/iraq/activities.html

The CIDI would like to acknowledge the individuals, groups and corporations who have undertaken innovative and meaningful initiatives to help the people of Iraq.

The story presented below demonstrates a learning process, an awareness and a sensitivity of the true needs of those who are suffering.  There is an important role for the public and corporations to play in international humanitarian assistance, and the CIDI remains committed to providing them with the guidance to help them make the best choices.

We hope that by sharing stories, it will inspire others to respond to not only this, but also other humanitarian needs around the world with compassion, creativity and insight.

It sure does continue to add up . . . it becomes more and more apparent why you discourage collecting physical supplies.
