The CIDI needs your input, please . . . .

The CIDI wishes to sample the public attitudes and perceptions regarding the making of donations in the time of international disaster and humanitarian situations.  The following 18 items are intended to gather some basic information.  Some of the following questions are lengthy, though interspersed with shorter questions, and your patience is appreciated.  Thank you for helping us to create a more current image of the corporate view of donations.

6 If your company has been reluctant to make cash donations to a professional relief agency in the past, which of the following influenced your decision most?

We want 100% of our cash donations to help disaster relief victims, not to pay the salaries of the relief agency employees.
We have heard too many stories about relief agencies not spending the cash they receive to help the disaster victims.
We are not sure how relief agencies actually spend the money the public donates.
We do not know which agencies we can trust.
We do not have enough information about what each relief agency does in order to make an informed decision.
Our employees and/or Board of Directors feel that a cash donation is not sufficient.  We want to be able to do something more tangible.

7 If your corporation has made material donations for victims of disasters overseas in the past, what was your justification (Check all that apply)?

We know that whatever materials the company donates can be used by disaster victims.
Clothing, bottled water and food donations will meet the two greatest needs when a disaster happens.
Urgently needed supplies are not available in the disaster-affected country.
The relief agencies and the government did not appear to be responding as well or as quickly as we thought they could or should have.
We heard appeals for help from the disaster victims, their government, relief agencies, churches or others and responded.

Contact the US office of the Embassy or consulate of that country for more information on needs.
